Veterans Day: Commending Our Patriots
Veterans Day is an important national holiday observed in the United States on November 11th, regardless of the day of the week. The date holds historical significance, as it marks the anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I on November 11, 1918. For many years, the holiday was known as Armistice Day, a day to honor the brave men and women who served in the Great War.
In 1954, the holiday was officially renamed Veterans Day in order to honor all American veterans, not just those who served in World War I. This change recognized the sacrifices of servicemembers in all conflicts, past and present.
Veterans Day is an important opportunity to express gratitude to the men and women who have defended our country and protected our freedoms. Their selfless acts of service have shaped the course of our nation's history. On this day, we pause to celebrate the veterans in our lives and remember the high price that has been paid to secure the liberties we enjoy as Americans.
At Baxter Law, LLC, we are at the forefront of honoring veterans today and every day. Our firm offers counsel to service members and veterans in our local community at a discounted rate.
Veterans Committed to Serving Our Fellow Servicemembers
Our founding attorney, Casey Baxter, and one of our civil attorneys are veterans. We thank them for their service and sacrifice, and in honoring their service to our country, our attorneys also work with local organizations and veterans themselves.
As a former Marine, Attorney Baxter lives the Semper Fidelis creed and serves as a director on the board of the Central Oregon Veterans Outreach (COVO). This organization helps veterans and their families through outreach and housing services.
Our founding attorney is also known for his instrumental work in helping to establish the Deschutes County Veteran Treatment Court and the Veterans Intervention Strategy (VIS) that aims to assist veterans involving in the legal system with improving their case outcomes, accessing resources to help with mental health and substance abuse management, and other issues that may influence their criminal activity.
